Kilian Hafer, born in Wuppertal, Germany, completed a professional apprenticeship as a mechatronic technician for cooling systems in 2014. He then acquired his high school degree and went on to earn a Master’s in Electrical Engineering from the University of Wuppertal at the Institute of High Frequency and Communication Technology (IHCT) in 2022.
Following this, he moved to Taipei, Taiwan for his Ph.D. studies in mmW Integrated Circuit design at the National Taiwan University in the Graduate Institute of Communication Engineering (GICE). His main research focus was mmW PA designs for the Ka- and V-Band.
In 2024, he relocated his Ph.D. studies to Switzerland, where he conducts research at the Centre Suisse d’Électronique et de Microtechnique (CSEM) in Neuchatel in cooperation with Eidgenössische Technische Hochschule (ETH). This is under the Swisschip 6G-Communication program with the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology. His main objective is the investigation of integrated mmW/sub-THz FMCW-Radar technology.
