Two new PhD Students join the IDEAS Group: Welcome to Filippo Svelto and Abdelrahman Elsayed

We are pleased to announce that Filippo Svelto and Abdelrahman Elsayed will join the IDEAS group on May 13th 2024

Abdelrahman Elsayed received his Bachelor's degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) from Ain Shams University, Cairo, Egypt, in 2019 with distinction and honours. His bachelor's thesis focused on "Design of a Power Management IC for IoT Applications." He continued his academic pursuits by obtaining his Master's degree in ECE from the same university in 2023, with his master's thesis titled "Analysis and Design of Low Jitter PLLs". In 2019, he joined the ECE department at Faculty of Engineering, Ain Shams University as a Teaching assistant. Moreover, from 2019 till 2024, he was working as a Design Engineer at Pearl Semiconductor, Egypt.

Abdelrahman's research interests include Analog/Mixed signal circuits and RF circuits.

Filippo Svelto obtained his Bachelor's degree in Electronic Engineering and Information Technology from the University of Pavia in July 2019. He completed his Master's degree in Electrical Engineering and Information Technology at ETH Zurich. In collaboration with Prof. Dr. Hua Wang, Filippo worked on projects such as "AI-Assisted Load Variation Prediction by mm-Wave Reconfigurable Doherty Power Amplifier". He completed his Master's thesis entitled "Crystal-free mm-Wave Frequency Synthesis" at UC Berkeley under the supervision of Prof. Ali Niknejad.

Filippo's research interests lie in the development of building blocks for phased array transceivers and the application of AI for optimisation in power amplifiers.
